In the HYBRIT Demonstration project SSAB will phase out two blast furnaces and a coking plant in Oxel\u00f6sund and replace them with an electric arc furnace (EAF). The EAF will enable the demonstration of electric melting with high shares of hydrogen-reduced sponge iron. The process will be powered by fossil-free electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The project will enable SSAB to introduce fossil-free steel to the market by 2026.
